Senior Management changes

To more accurately reflect the breadth and importance of his portfolio, Professor Alan Rix has the revised title of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic). Professor Rix’s responsibilities for and commitment to Ipswich are unchanged. He will continue to be based at UQ Ipswich as the campus’s academic and administrative leader. He will also maintain his UQ-wide responsibilities for strategic development of academic staff, and for academic staff industrial and employee relations.

This title change follows previously-announced changes to the Vice-Chancellor’s Senior Executive, which took effect on January 1, 2008. The most significant change was promotion of Professor Deborah Terry to the new position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning).

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Greenfield, has decided against filling the post of Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, which became vacant when he began as Vice-Chancellor on January 1. The duties of that role have effectively have been taken up by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) [Faculty finances and planning] and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) [Institute finances and planning].
