Update on enterprise bargaining

Enterprise bargaining is now in its sixth month, with some progress achieved in reaching agreement on some key clauses (eg, workloads, casual academic staffing). The University has prepared and tabled for discussion some 29 clauses, with more being prepared, but bargaining discussions overall have made only slow progress. The University has recently communicated with the NTEU's UQ Branch President about that union's apparent preference for industrial action over serious bargaining, and about the inaccurate information it has provided to its members about both the bargaining and the University's approach to the bargaining. A copy of this letter is available online. To speed up the negotiations, it has been agreed that smaller working parties will discuss individual clauses. We will keep you informed of progress via the Enterprise Bargaining website.
