Superannuation changes

From July 1, 2009, the University is required to include “Reportable Employer Superannuation Contributions” on an employee’s annual Payment Summary (previously referred to as a “group certificate”). Reportable employer superannuation contributions are effectively any superannuation contributions made by an employee under a payroll-deducted salary sacrifice arrangement. This includes any additional contributions to a superannuation fund. It is important to note this does not include the contributions made by the University as a requirement determined by an industrial agreement or federal or state laws. For example, the standard nine or 17 percent employer contributions to UniSuper are not reportable employer superannuation contributions. Details: ext. 51002.

Dirty business behind Flipper

New Schonell Cinema film The Cove begins in Taiji, Japan, where former dolphin trainer Ric O’Barry has come to set things right after a long search for redemption. It is here, under cover of night, that Taiji fishermen, driven by a multi-billion-dollar dolphin entertainment industry and an underhanded market for mercury-tainted dolphin meat, engage in an unseen hunt.
