Personal safety tips for motorists

Plan ahead

Have a safety plan for dealing with problems such as a car breakdown. Examine your options - for example, who could you contact in an emergency, any time, day or night?

There are no hard and fast rules about what to do - but planning ahead and thinking about what to do may enable you to think more clearly and react more quickly if a problem arises.

In difficult situations feeling unsafe is not irrational - don't be ashamed to tell others, eg. telephone operators, RACQ or police officials, that you feel unsafe and want assistance.
