Applying to Union College

General information for all Applicants

The Head of College is looking for residents who can bring a balance of qualities to the College. As a general guide some of the following considerations will apply in assessing your application.

  • Personal suitability for community living
  • Your interview (where applicable)
  • Demonstration of your likely ability to succeed at university and a commitment to pursue this goal
  • Your academic (or school history) and other information about your interests and pursuits
  • Faculty and gender balance in the College as a whole
  • Balance of Domestic and International students in the College community

     

Union College will guarantee to give careful consideration to your application, and all applications will be promptly acknowledged by email. However, please be aware that submission of a completed application and payment of the application fee do not guarantee a place in the college. We are a gender balanced, diverse community in Union College and selection of applicants reflects this goal.

Written Answers:

3. When you reflect on the past, what has been the most personally rewarding or memorable incident or event?

And the following items

  • A recent colour passport sized photograph (head and shoulders, not in school uniform)
  • A copy of your most recent academic results from secondary school or tertiary study
  • Application fee AU$55 (incl.GST)
  • International Students - A copy of your Offer from the University of Queensland / other relevant information.

The Next Step in the Process is Your Interview

If you are a Domestic Applicant you are required to contact the College as soon as possible to arrange an Interview with the Head of College.

If resident in Brisbane, International Applicants are required to take part in the interview process.

Parents are very welcome and encouraged to participate in the interview process. Local or near Brisbane applicants must be interviewed in person, and those from other areas are encouraged to visit the College for an interview if possible. Alternatively, interviews can be undertaken by telephone (from more remote locations) or in person when the Head of College conducts regional visits.

The interview is an important part of the selection process, and prospective applicants are encouraged to arrange an interview as soon as possible. Arrangements to cover these situations can be made with the College.

Closing Dates

Applications for 2010 - Union College does not have a closing date for applications; however, applications before the end of October are encouraged.

Note: Vacancies can occur at any time, and later applications will be considered.
