As a research intensive university, UQ is consistently ranked among the top one per cent of universities in the world and is internationally renowned for its research excellence.

The Office of Undergraduate Education actively supports UQ’s culture of innovation and entrepreneurialism, and coordinates a range of programs which enable undergraduate students to experience research.

By participating in undergraduate research programs, students gain valuable academic and professional skills, have an opportunity to develop links with industry and academic contacts, and are able to test drive research before embarking on further research studies or higher degree research projects.
 

Undergraduate Research Programs section

UQ Winter Research Program

The UQ Winter Research Program offers scholarships to students who are engaged in research projects over the winter vacation period of 4-6 weeks duration. Students who qualify for a scholarship will receive a stipend of $300 per week.

UQ Summer Research Program

The UQ Summer Research Program offers scholarships to students who are engaged in research projects over the summer vacation period of 6-10 weeks duration. Students who qualify for a scholarship will receive a stipend of $300 per week.

UQ Undergraduate Research Conference

Every year OUE, in collaboration with faculties, organises the annual Undergraduate Research Conference. The conference showcases UQ’s best undergraduate research projects and allows student researchers to share their work through oral and poster presentations.

Universitas 21 Events

The University of Queensland is a member of Universitas 21, which is an international network of 21 leading research-intensive universities in thirteen countries. UQ students have the opportunity to participate in U21 activities such as student exchanges, research conferences, and summer schools.
