Confucious tour
"This trip was very rewarding. As an architecture student i was able to experience first hand architecture of a different culture, whether it was the ancient traditional method of construction or even the modern architecture. The design studio offered me a unique challenge as the project was set in a different climate and culture, one that I could experience first hand and therefore understand Chinese architecture with greater depth. Chinese language class and culture class allowed me to experience China and Chinese culture beyond that of a regular tourist to the country and return to Australia with a better understanding."

Space Generation Congress in Cape Town
"The Space Generation Congress has broadened my perspective on the space industry. It has introduced me to policy and legal issues within the space industry. This complements the technological knowledge that I am learning through my degree at UQ. It also allowed me to develop my views on space debris and future cooperation on space projects. The international setting of the congress allowed me to learn about the influence and effects of space from other national and cultural perspectives."

Indigenous Maningrida
"Being involved with the community in Maningrida gave me a valuable insight into life in an Aboriginal community and the role that government policy plays in the lives of Aboriginal people. While I was in Maningrida I was able to observe a community consultation meeting with Federal Indigenous Affairs Minister Jenny Macklin. This gave me the unique opportunity to observe this process. This experience has given me an insight into Aboriginal culture and a valuable experience of how social policy affects individuals lives on a day to day basis."
