Application Procedures
Submit the Tutor Application Form online at www.uq.edu.au/swahs/index.html?page=61022. The minimum qualification for a tutor is an undergraduate degree. Preference is given to current full-time Social Work and Applied Human Sciences postgraduate research students. Generally there are not enough postgraduates to fill all the tutor positions, thus suitably Qualified outside applicants are appointed.
Induction and Training
Tutors must complete the SBS tutor induction program prior to commencement of tutoring in the school. First-time tutors will be paid to attend this. Tutors should complete a refresher induction program for tutors at least every two years. Tutors must also attend a School tutor orientation session. First-time tutors will be paid to attend this. Issues discussed cover the School facilities, tutor duties & responsibilities and administrative matters (e.g. pay claims, OHS). All tutors should ensure they have met the course coordinator and familiarised themselves with the tutorial material and procedures for their course prior to commencement of classes.
Resources
The School of Social Work and Applied Human Sciences will supply tutors with the following:
- Access to School computer network, printers and photocopiers.
- Stationery as required for teaching and/or marking
