Information for applicants
Tutors in the School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies are appointed from time to time on a semester-by-semester basis.Tutors must meet high standards of presentation, be reliable and punctual, possess excellent communication and organisational skills and have demonstrated an interest in helping other people.

Tutors are allocated shared tutor office space in the School, and provided with access to school-controlled seminars and common rooms. A "mentor" is appointed for each tutor. Usually the course co-ordinator, the mentor will help and assist the tutor with all queries related to teaching the course.

The processing of tutor appointments and all matters relating to payment of salary claims is managed by the Administrative staff in the School office.

Induction and training
At the beginning of each semester, a Tutor Training Workshop is conducted, which is compulsory for all new tutors, and for which tutors will be paid. This consists of a 1.5 hour training session with the Director of Studies, and tutors will be notified when this is scheduled (usually in the week preceding commencement of semester). A tutor training kit will be distributed at this training session which provides a comprehensive overview of University policies and procedures.
