Internet-based multidisciplinary assessment of patients following Traumatic Brain Injury
Motor vehicle accidents are the single greatest cause of traumatic brain injury. While there is compelling evidence that rehabilitation services such as physiotherapy and speech pathology can improve the physical and communicative functioning of TBI patients, access to these services is limited within regional, rural, and remote Australia. This project will determine the feasibility and accuracy of performing multidisciplinary assessments of patients with TBI via low-speed dial-up Internet connections in their own homes. The project will provide preliminary evidence of an innovative community based service delivery model which promises improve access to high quality multidisciplinary rehabilitation services in Australian communities.
