| Elizabeth Ward |
Dr Ward is a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Speech Pathology. She has published extensively in books and peer-reviewed journals with over 120 publications to date. Dr Ward has recently co-edited and authored the textbook Ward, EC & Van As-Brooks, CJ (2007) Head and Neck Cancer: Treatment, Rehabilitation and Outcomes, Plural Publishing, USA. Dr Ward received numerous research and teaching awards, and is an invited keynote speaker on her work relating to swallowing rehabilitation and head and neck cancer.
To date Dr Ward has been awarded over $900,000 in competitive grant funding, and currently holds a successful NH&MRC grant in the area of telehealth. The majority of prior grant funding has been in the area of dysphagia assessment and management, particularly in the Head and Neck Cancer population. She is involved in a number of national and international research teams investigating aspects of head and neck surgery, motor speech disorders, and dysphagia.
Within the telerehabilitation group Dr Ward is involved in 3 areas of investigation including:
the assessment of language and motor speech disorders online; determining the validity of delivering the LSVT online, and
exploring the validity of using a telerehabilitation application of assessing speech and swallowing function in patients following laryngectomy.
