Calipers vs ePAED foot measurements paediatrics

Accuracy and Reliability of Medial Longitudinal Arch measurement in Eight Year Old Children: Vernier Calipers versus the ePAED

Digital photos taken with a pocket computer (ePAED) will be analysed on the computer and then compared to manual measures taken with a vernier calliper, a traditional measurement device, to verify whether the computer is as accurate at measuring the height of children’s arches when they are standing. The computer device will also be used to collect video of the child’s arch when they are walking so that the arch height can be measured when the child is moving. Measurements of the height of the arch and length of the foot in children will be analysed to see whether there is a relationship between these two measures.
