Turnaround leadership for sustainability in Higher Education

The findings from an OLT-funded Australian and international study of turnaround leadership for sustainability in higher education will be discussed in this session.

The study has involved working with 188 experienced leaders of sustainability in universities in the USA, Canada, UK, Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand over the past year. The focus has been on learning what capabilities and strategies are key to the successful implementation of social, cultural, economic and environmental sustainability in the higher education curriculum, research, engagement activities and operations.

The session will  share the outcomes of the project and engage with those interested in using what has emerged to develop a more systematic approach to implementing sustainability in higher education and to identify the key implications for local and national action.
