A skilled and motivated staff is integral to providing positive teaching and learning outcomes for students.  Extending the knowledge and skills of its staff is one of the University's key commitments, addressed through professional development opportunities.  The University's career progress and appraisal of academic staff policies highlights organisational efficiency and effectiveness, achieved and maintained by appropriately skilled, experienced and motivated staff.

All new academic staff members should attend an Orientation for Academics New to UQ as part of their induction process. This session provides new academic staff with essential information about expectations and funding opportunities in relation to teaching and research, together with advice on how to get started immediately on developing a productive career trajectory.
