QA in Assessment: Implementation Proposal for Faculties in 2003/2004
As a first and immediate step, each faculty should develop its own quality assurance and quality control process with respect to assessment practices.
- This should include the identification, in conjunction with TEDI, of staff training needs to assist with the development of good assessment practices.
The faculty T & L committee will review the schools' reports with particular attention but not limiting the scope of the review to the following issues:
- Has a chief examiner been appointed for the program/school?
- What checks are in place to ensure that all courses offered by schools in the faculty have a course profile, in line with UQ assessment policies and procedures?
- How adequate are the practices through which amendments to grades may be made prior to the finalisation and publication of these grades, i.e. the reason/s for which a grade recommended by a course coordinator may be amended by a head/director/chief examiner/examiners' committee?
Based on this review, faculties will be able to inform the ongoing monitoring and auditing of assessment practices in their constituent schools.
The faculty T & L committee will submit a consolidated audit report to the Executive Dean. The report may include examples of good practice.
