| Professor Arne Dahle 2011 UQ Award for Teaching Excellence winner |
Professor Arne Dahle teaches materials engineering at UQ. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses for more than 13 years, covering all year levels.
He has successfully delivered a course to all first-year engineering students, which is a class of about 450-600 students. His teaching philosophy involves stimulating independent thinking by making the students participate actively in lectures.
Professor Dahle creates a dynamic learning environment. He believes that learning is best achieved in a responsive environment. Therefore, he integrates one or more practical demonstrations in all his lectures to show the key points and also the cutting edge of ongoing research in materials. Professor Dahle is a prolific researcher with a large research group, a profile that actively feeds into his lecture content. Students clearly appreciate his efforts - their feedback is spectacular.
