The Blended Learning conference held on the 18th of June 2008 was another truly international event spanning three continents and three Universities. The University of Hertfordshire began the Blended learning conference in 2006 and this year, using online technology, extended the conference to include the University of Queensland and the Canadian eLearning Conference at the University of Calgary. Combined, over 500 delegates participated in the conferences.
At the University of Queensland a number of practitioners showcased their blended learning approaches using a wide range of technologies including, Blackboard, Wimba, Second Life, Facebook, Challenge Workbook, podcasting, mobile technologies, SBLi, DyKnow and student response systems.
The Conference was deemed a great success at all venues. Feedback was highly positive with delegates in particular greatly appreciating the ‘back-to-back’ keynotes and the practical applications demonstrated by UQ staff. Following on from this event it is anticipated that the Blended learning conference will become a yearly event.
