Two types of Academic Scholarships will be awarded:

  • 191 x UQ Merit scholarships, valued at $6,000 for the first year of study only.

Bonus Ranks

UQ is aiming to enhance our graduates’ competitive edge in the global workforce by introducing a new bonus scheme for current school leavers who have studied a foreign language, Maths C, or university-level studies during senior secondary school.

Eligible students applying through QTAC for programs at UQ will be awarded bonus ranks as follows:
a. 2 points for passing an approved language other than English.
b. 2 points for passing Mathematics C.
c. 1 point for successful completion of a university level course at any Australian University (enhanced studies or enrichment program)
The maximum bonus for any one student is 5 points, and the maximum LOTE bonus per student is 2 points (irrespective of how many languages are studied). For some students, the extra points they acquire under the bonus system could mean the difference that gets them over the line into their UQ program of choice.

For further information please contact the UQ Admissions Team on (07) 3365 2203, email admissionsenquiries@admin.uq.edu.au or download the brochure.

UQ Summer Research Internship Scholarships

A UQ Summer Research Internship scholarship program is currently being developed for introduction during 2008/2009. The scholarships will support opportunities for undergraduate students to undertake a research internship over the summer period. The research internships will also be open to able undergraduate and/or honours students from other Australian and New Zealand universities, in an effort to help build our cohorts of high achieving honours and PhD students.

It is expected that the scholarships will provide students with:
  • a tax-exempt weekly stipend of $300;
  • recognition to undergraduate degree requirements such as credit or milestone (subject to degree rules and structure).
In addition, non-UQ students based outside of Brisbane will receive:
  • a contribution towards travel expenses to and from Brisbane; and
  • funds to support the costs of college accommodation.
A website detailing the scheme and study areas participating will be available soon.
