UQ Success in Carrick Fellowships, Grants and Discipline-based Initiatives

Building on our success in 2006, UQ academics have again been successful in the 2007 rounds of Carrick Fellowships, Grants and Discipline-based Initiatives funding schemes. In total, UQ has attracted over $600,000 in funding to support and promote excellence in teaching and learning both at UQ and nationally. 

Two of eight Associate Fellowships announced by Carrick in May were awarded to UQ academics, Dr Michael Bulmer and Dr Roger Moni.

Winners to date are listed below.

  • Dr Michael Bulmer (Associate Fellowship): Technology for Nurture in Large Classes ($98,848)
  • Dr Roger Moni (Associate Fellowship): A programmatic approach to developing scientific writing embedded in Bachelor of Science courses ($98181)
  • Dr Tony Wright and Professor Susan Hamilton (Priority Projects Grant): Diagnostic Assessment for Biological Sciences – Development of a Concept Inventory ($200,346)
  • Dr Lydia Kavanagh (Competitive Grant): Developing and disseminating TEAM SKILLS capacities using interactive online tools for team formation, learning, assessment and mentoring ($181,487)
  • Associate Professor Sylvia Rodger (Discipline-based Investigation Fund): Mapping the future of Occupational Therapy Education in the 21st Century: Review and analysis of existing Australian Competency Standards for entry-level Occupational Therapists and their impact on Occupational Therapy Curricula across Australia ($99,947)

Four Expressions of Interest have been requested by Carrick to submit full proposals and one full proposal has been asked to resubmit in the next funding rounds.  UQ is also involved as a partner investigator in six projects led by other institutions.
