Dr Neil Cottrell is an excellent teacher who inspires his students to become the best pharmacy practitioners they can. He teaches the final year students in the School of Pharmacy and creates a supportive learning environment with authentic learning activities to help his students transition into their intern pharmacy year prior to registration as pharmacists. His cConsistently high scores on his teaching evaluations reflect the success of his approach. In addition to his pharmacy teaching, Dr Cottrell led the successful development and implementation of an interprofessional curriculum involving students from medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy and physiotherapy at the UQ Greenslopes Clinical School. His teaching has been recognised by his university peers with a UQ Commendation for Excellence in Teaching in 2005. He is the current Chair of the Teaching and Learning Committee in the School of Pharmacy. External to the University, Dr Cottrell has been involved in the development, coordination and tutoring of clinical seminars to practising pharmacists since 2000. He received the Australian Clinical Pharmacy Award in 2007 from the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia.
