Excellence of learning opportunities and outcomes depends on the quality of the teaching and learning experience.  The provision of a high-quality experience for students requires an environment that fosters critical inquiry as well as innovation and creativity.  The environment must build a depth of knowledge that will provide a foundation for later endeavour and support independent learning that will allow a graduate to adapt to new challenges and situations.  To achieve these results some areas must be given high priority.

These priorities are articulated through The University of Queensland's Teaching and Learning Enhancement Plan (TLEP).   A new TLEP spanning 2008-2010 was launched during Teaching and Learning Week 2007 in the 2007 Teaching and Learning Profile.  The TLEP identifies three goals for the 2008-2010 period:

  1. Build an understanding of and commitment to the distinctive features of the UQ student experience, and support initiatives to enrich this experience.
  2. Support and reward teaching excellence, and raise the professionalism, visibility, and status of teaching and learning at UQ.
  3. Enrich all aspects of the teaching and learning environment.

The Teaching and Learning Profile 2009 was launched in Teaching and Learning Week 2009 and included a TLEP Status Report detailing the progress that has been made on the TLEP Goals, Strategies and Targets.
