In 2001 the Academic Board of The University of Queensland established the Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning (formerly Awards for the Enhancement of Student Learning) to recognise programs and services that enhance the quality of student learning and the quality of the student experience at The University of Queensland. They are awarded to projects/services initiated by curriculum teams, groups or organisational units.

There are eight award categories:

  1. Widening participation
  2. Educational partnerships and collaborations with other organisations
  3. The first-year experience
  4. Flexible learning and teaching
  5. Innovation in curricula, learning and teaching
  6. Postgraduate education
  7. Services supporting student learning
  8. Global citizenship and internationalisation

To enhance opportunities for national recognition of outstanding teachers at the University of Queensland the Procedures for the UQ Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning  align with those of the Office of Learning and Teaching (OLT) Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT).

Nominations are closed for the 2013 UQ Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning.
