Dr Gwen Lawrie is an excellent teacher, who has had a substantial and sustained influence on the teaching of chemistry at UQ. Her infectious enthusiasm for teaching and her willingness to engage and encourage other academics have helped to significantly improve teaching in the School. She is lucid, involving and entertaining in her classes, and the carefully considered use of technological tools and assessment materials has transformed and enhanced student learning. She has been awarded major grant funding and a UQ teaching fellowship in support of her scholarship and has published in international journals. As a co-supervisor of research higher degree students, Dr Lawrie is equally admirable and a constant source of ideas and advice. She is president of the Queensland branch of the RACI Committee on Chemical Education.
