Emerging leaders in teaching and learning will be supported undertake activities aimed to enhance T&L in their disciplines and their own leadership skills through the 2011 UQ Teaching Fellowship scheme.

The 2011 recipients were announced during Teaching and Learning Week by Professor Merrilyn Goos, Director of TEDI. Teaching Fellows will work closely with TEDI and undertake a residency with them during the year as they undertake their program of activities.

Professor Goos is looking forward to working with the Fellows, especially following the success of the inaugural recipients.

"UQ Teaching Fellows are tackling key issues around enhancing student learning and engagement. Although their individual fellowship programs are focused on their own disciplines, the strategies that the Fellows devise are likely to generate ideas and practices that can be applied more broadly across the university."

The winner are:

Dr Lucinda Chipchase – School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Exploring the use of telesupervision as a sustainable, engaging method to support professional learning opportunities
A/Professor Karen Moni – School of Education: Building capacities to enhance critical thinking and writing skills of first year international RHD students in the Social Sciences
Dr Susan Rowland – School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences: Expanding the UQ URE to include teaching and learning projects
Dr Daniel Schull – School of Veterinary Science: Refining and benchmarking outcomes assessment for the Bachelor of Veterinary Science professional programme at the University of Queensland
