What motivates someone to undertake a postgraduate degree? Career advancement? Higher qualifications? In Tanya's case, the reason was far more profound.

In keeping with her Buddhist faith, Tanya believes in helping yourself through helping others, so she is providing support work at the Karuna Hospice Service, which offers palliative care throughout the community.

Tanya chose to study a Master of Social Work at UQ so she would be qualified, trained and prepared to provide the best care possible. And she specifically chose UQ because of the flexible program delivery that allows her to study part-time, on campus, in the field of social work.

Tanya is thoroughly enjoying her UQ experience as it allows her to gain hands-on training from engaging lecturers in an encouraging and collaborative learning environment.
