Nicole Lynham in London
“Since graduating in 2002 I have spent the past 4.5 years working in London within the children in care sector. For the past two and a half years I have been managing a project team for children in care based within one of London’s most diverse and deprived inner-city council areas. This involves managing the development of innovative and sustainable initiatives and projects to improve outcomes for children in care.
It’s an exciting time to be working within the children in care sector in London as the national agenda in this area is very strong, with a recent white paper and Children and Young Person’s bill. I am involved in implementing this agenda locally within my council area. The most important part of my role is working directly with children and young people to give them a voice and to be genuinely involved in decision-making processes that impact on their lives, including service improvements.
The two things that keep me going in this field are making sure I have a good work/life balance, and ultimately being able to see the impact of the work that I’m involved in for children and young people.”
