Assets and Ageing Research Program

The University of Queensland Assets and Ageing Research Program was established in 2000 to coordinate research into a range of social and economic aspects of ageing.  Research to date has focused substantially on the emerging challenges for older people managing their financial resources to fund increasingly lengthy and diverse periods of retirement.  The researchers are particularly interested to understand how older people are assisted in this task by families, friends and neighbours, as well as by service providers such as banks, government agencies and aged care facilities.  The ultimate aim of the research program is to support the development of informed and protective financial management practices for older people and those who assist them.
