Introduction to Field Education

Welcome to Field Education at the School of Social Work and Human Services.

Field education placement is an exciting and challenging experience for students where they test themselves in the human services practitioner role, develop skills in a range of fields and methods and engage in the application of academic learning in the practice environment.

The School of Social Work and Human Services has a number of field work courses which are offered as part of the Bachelor of Social Work, the Bachelor of Human Services, the Master of Counselling, and the Master of Social Work Studies programs.

About the Field Education Unit

The School's Field Education Unit is responsible for organising and matching students with practical placements. The Unit strives to provide the necessary balance between support and challenge in order to maximise a student’s learning opportunities whilst on field placement.

The Field Education Unit is available for the duration of a student’s program, for consultation and assistance regarding placement and field education issues.
