Chasing Coral film screening and Q&A with Professor Ove Hoegh-Guldberg and featured GCI scientists
This is a unique opportunity to meet Professor Ove Hoegh-Guldberg and key GCI scientists involved in the feature film, Chasing Coral.  Following a personal Q&A will be a screening of this new film about how coral reefs around the world are vanishing at an unprecedented rate. A team of divers, photographers and scientists set out on a thrilling ocean adventure to discover why and to reveal the underwater mystery to the world.

Green Labs Freezer Month

ISRS Library pre-loved clothes rummage
All UQ library staff are welcome to join the fun. Pre-loved swap and rummage of clothes, shoes, jewellery, hats and bags. Bring in pre-loved items in good state and then rummage for something you’d like. All free and in the spirit of reusing the reusable. Any items leftover will be given to an op shop afterwards.

This innovative worm farm automatically tends to all the needs of the resident worms busy turning scraps into delicious food for the garden. Part of ITEE’s thesis program, supported by the students and staff of Campus Kindergarten.

Colours on the reef - how we can ensure the survival of coral reefs around the globe
Coral bleaching events happen due to the impact of climate change, with back-to-back bleaching occurring on the Great Barrier Reef in 2016 and 2017.  Visit CoralWatch and ReefCheck, two partner citizen science programs at UQ, and learn how to look after reefs in the ocean and from home.  There are many things you can do to make a difference to our reefs, and we will show you just a few today!
Film Screening: Bag It (is your life too plastic?)
Winner of five film awards, Bag It is a documentary about Jeb Berrier, a regular guy who made a pledge to stop using plastic bags at the grocery store and changed his life completely. Bring your lunch along and relax with this entertaining and inspiring film. Restoration guided walk
Thanks to the help of our incredible volunteers, UQ Sustainability and UQ Property and Facilities, the Society for Conservation Biology UQ Brisbane Chapter planted 10,000 trees along the campus riverbank in 2015. This restoration project aimed to provide understory habitat for small birds and the endangered Richmond Birdwing Butterfly. To celebrate the project's success, join us for a guided walk to see the results and learn more about wildlife corridors, conserving endangered species and the importance of restoration in an urban landscape.
