Sunshining on solar panelsUQ’s Solar Research Resource Centre (SRRC) opened in 2011 to provide a location for industry, school and community groups to visit and learn about the UQ Solar Array and renewable energy.

The centre is a rich assortment of multimedia displays, interactive LCD screens, photovoltaic samples, information boards and aerial photographs of the rooftop solar installations across campus. Visitors can come to the centre to learn about solar energy at UQ and view live energy data streamed directly from the photovoltaic panels.

The University constructed the UQ Solar Array not only to save on emissions and power costs and demonstrate UQ's commitment to clean energy, but also to enable researchers to compare electricity generation using different variables. Research results will be used to apply to other renewable energy sources.
