The University maintains high levels of personal safety for all students on campus.

Brisbane has long been considered a safe city that provides its residents with a laid back and relaxed lifestyle. To uphold this reputation for safety and ensure the comfort of our students, UQ has developed the UniSafe program. Initiatives include two free services operating after dark:

• the UniSafe Escort service (UQ St Lucia, UQ Ipswich, UQ Gatton), whereby students and staff can ask to be accompanied while walking to on-campus locations; and
• a Safety Bus service (UQ St Lucia) linking main buildings, colleges, carparks and public transport stops.

Campuses are well-lit, have security call-points in strategic locations, and are patrolled 24-hours-a-day. An emergency phone number is effective all hours for an immediate security response.
