Plan your expenses

Before leaving to Australia, make sure you plan your expenses to cover tuition fees, visa fees, living expenses and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

Organise your student visa

All international students applying to study in Australia must have a student visa that will remain valid for the duration of their studies.

Study Abroad and Incoming Exchange students are eligible for Streamline Visa Processing (SVP).

Plan your arrival dates

All new international students are strongly advised to arrive at least one to two weeks before Orientation Week

You will need enough time to secure permanent accommodation if you haven't already done so, become acquainted with your new surroundings and attend the orientation programs before classes begin.

Book airport reception

You can register for our Airport Reception Service by visiting the Accommodation Services website.

You'll need your UQ student number, accommodation destination address, flight details, and the details of any accompanying passengers to book a pick-up. Additional charges for some destinations may apply to your booking. Information on these charges is provided during the booking process and you will be notified of these should they apply. Additional passengers >1 person, who accompany a UQ student, (and who are not Airport Reception eligible UQ students), will be required to pay a pick up fee to be transported with our service to the drop off destination with the registered UQ student. More information is provided during the booking process.

Accommodation services also has a list of temporary accommodation should you require it, and can help you find more permanent accommodation on arrival.
