We wish you all the best for your final assessment and hope you have enjoyed receiving UQ’s Student Update in 2009. Good luck for your last few weeks of high school and remember that the best years of your life are still to come!
To help you out over the next few months, we have listed our top tips for surviving exams and on making a smooth transition from high school to university.

Surviving your final exams
1 Be prepared by starting exam study early to avoid last minute cramming
2 Manage your time effectively - it’s quality study that counts
3 Take regular breaks to relax and do some exercise
4 Eat a good breakfast on the morning of your exams
5 Turn off the TV and computer and put your mobile on silent
6 Get plenty of sleep
7 Keep things in perspective and don’t forget the bigger picture – you’ll get through the exams and then you can start to look forward to life after school.
Transitioning from school to university
1 Go on a campus tour before the semester starts so you know how to find your first class
2 Try to meet older students studying your course (they often have helpful hints and good notes!)
3 Get involved with everything that university has to offer
4 Don’t be afraid to ask for help – there is a lot of support available
5 Keep a balance in your life (academic, sporting, work and social activities)
6 Attend UQ Options Evening on 21 December 2009.
