UQ-Link Access Program - Eligibilty & How to Apply
Eligibility
To be eligible for the UQ-Link Access Program, you must:
- be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or an Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder; and
- be completing (or have completed) one of the following in 2012 (or 2011 if you’re a gap year student):
- Year 12 (or seeking entry using combined mode); or
- full-time Senior External Examinations; or
- full-time Certificate IV in Adult Tertiary Preparation; or
- full-time Tertiary Preparation Program through the UQ College
and
- be intending to commence study at UQ in 2013 (or in 2014 after an approved year of deferral); and
- have not completed any previous tertiary study other than that undertaken as part of Year 11-12 studies (eg. Enhanced Studies Program, GUEST etc); and
- be eligible for maximum points under the ‘Financial Hardship’ category of QTAC’s Educational Access Scheme (EAS)*
* If you or your parents receive a full rate of a means AND asset tested Centrelink income support benefit the only support documents you will need to provide is a recent copy of the relevant Centrelink Income Statement(s). Income and Asset tested payments include: ABSTUDY, Age Pension, Austudy, Carer Payment, Disability Support Payment, Newstart, Parenting Payment, Partner Allowance, Youth Allowance. If you (or your parents) do not receive a full rate of an eligible Centrelink benefit, then you will need to provide details of the gross income for your household.
How to Apply
Applying for the UQ-Link is done as part of your QTAC applicaiton for a tertiary place.
Step 1
Apply through QTAC for a tertiary place at UQ.
Step 2
Complete the “Financial Hardship” section on the EAS tab of your QTAC Application Form and ensure you provide all required supporting financial documentation to QTAC.
Step 3
QTAC will assess the information you have provided and will determine whether you have met the eligibility criteria for the UQ-Link Access program.
UQ will notify all approved applicants in December and those with a UQ preference will have 5 bonus ranks automatically applied to their admissions score for entry to UQ.
Note: UQ-Link Access students successful in gaining a place at UQ will normally be able to defer their tertiary offer through QTAC if they wish to take a gap year before commencing their university studies
Information for non-QTAC applicants
If you do NOT need to apply for a tertiary place through QTAC because you are taking up a previously deferred place at UQ, you can still be considered for UQ-Link Access by completing the Financial Hardship Application Form and sending it to:
