The George Essex Evans Scholarships was established in 1972 by Miss Anne Evans in memory of her brother, George Essex Evans. The object of the scholarship is to assist an outstanding student to complete an honours program in English.  Preference will be given to applicants who have shown outstanding ability in the field of Australian Literature and culture and who intend to continue in that field.  In making a recommendation, the financial need as well as the academic merit of applicants shall be taken into account.

Value: varies on an annual basis; approximately $1,600 is expected to be available for the 2010 recipient
