1. Program
rules dictionary:
1.1 "Compulsory courses" means all courses set out in the BE list for the chosen field of study.
1.2 "Electives" means the elective courses set out in the BE list for the chosen field of study.
1.3 "First aid certificate" means a senior first aid certificate granted by the St John Ambulance Association or a comparable body.
1.4 "Practice" means engineering professional practice.
1.5 ‘extended major’ means #60 set out in the BE list in the chosen field of study.
1.6 ‘dual major’ means #60 set out in the BE list in the chosen major field of study.
1.7 A “major” means #50 as set out in the BE list for the chosen field of study.
1.8 A “minor” means #10 as set out in the BE list for the chosen major field of study.
1.9 “Field of study” means the chosen discipline within the BE program.
2. Field of
study:
2.1 A student must complete the program in a field of study approved by the executive dean.
2.2 A student may complete an extended or dual major or a minor in a field approved by the executive dean.
3. Program requirements: #64,
comprising —
(a) a major, or an extended major, or a dual major, or a major and a minor; and
(b) the balance from electives or other courses approved by the executive dean.
4. Maximum credit for other study: #40.

5. Special rules:
5.1 Practice:
(a) A student must complete 60 days of practice approved by the executive dean.
(b) Within 4 weeks of the start of the semester following the period of practice, a student must give the executive dean a 1000–1500 word written report —
(i) in a form approved by the executive dean; and
(ii) containing the comments of the owner or manager of the place where the practice was undertaken.
5.2 First aid certificate: Four weeks before the proposed graduation date, a student must gain a current first aid certificate and provide a copy to the executive dean.
6. Honours:
Honours may be awarded to a student on the basis of the cumulative grade point
average that the student has gained over the course of the program, all courses
being weighted equally.
