Program Rules for the Master of Engineering

ME

1.     Program rules dictionary:

1.1  "Pre-1999 student" means a student who first enrolled in the program before 1 January 1999.

 

2.     Transitional:

2.1  If the executive dean approves, a pre-1999 student may complete the program under the current rules.

2.2  If a pre-1999 student completes the program under the current rules, the executive dean must determine the credit to be given for courses already passed.

 

3.     Options within program: A student may complete the master of engineering program by completing #16 or #24 or the master of engineering (advanced) program by completing #32.

 

4.     Enrolment requirements:

4.1  To enrol in the #16 master of engineering, a student must —

(a)   hold an approved degree equivalent to a 4-year degree in the chosen field; and

                (b)           satisfy the executive dean and head of school that, based on the student’s academic record, the student is qualified for admission.

4.2  To enrol in the #24 master of engineering, a student must —

(a)   hold an approved degree; and

                (b)           satisfy the executive dean and head of school that, based on the student’s academic record, the student is qualified for admission.

        4.3   To enroll in the #32 master of engineering (advanced) option, a student must —

                (a)           (i)            have completed one of the postgraduate engineering suite of programs in the chosen field; or

                                (ii)           hold an approved degree; and

                (b)           satisfy the executive dean and head of school that, based on the student’s academic record, the student is qualified for admission.

 

5.     Program requirements:

5.1  Master of engineering: #16 or #24 from the ME list in the chosen field;

5.2  Master of engineering (advanced): #32 from the ME list in the chosen field including #8 for theses or project courses.

5.3  A student undertaking the program must get the proposed —

       (a)   field of study; and               

       (b)     program of study approved by the executive dean.

 

6.     Maximum credit for previous study: #8

        (See GAR 1.6).
