Why study the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology?
Clinical Exercise Physiology graduates are in high demand in the exercise rehabilitation, health and fitness, and sport science industries; many of the opportunities however are restricted to Exercse Physiologists who are accredited with the Australian Association for Exercise and Sports Science (AAESS).
This program is designed to permit suitably qualified university graduates to meet the requirements for AAESS accreditation in just two and a half years of intensive study and clinical training. Only AAESS accredited Exercise Physiologists can provide exercise science services covered by Medicare (the national health care scheme), Workcover and the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Students are provided with specialised skills and knowledge in exercise prescription and programming for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, injury prevention and exercise interventions. The program aims to provide a comprehensive coverage of key pathologies including metabolic, cardiovascular , neurological, musculoskeletal, and acute conditions. They will appreciate the role of exercise scientists in health promotion, injury prevention and effective treatment planning, implementation and evaluation. This program includes over 500 hours of supervised clinical practice.
