Indicative annual fees are calculated on the basis of two full-time semesters only. Actual annual fees may vary in accordance with your choices of majors and electives and whether you study in Summer Semester. Tuition fees are indexed each year. The indexation rate is fixed 18 months in advance of a particular academic year thereby allowing you to plan your finances ahead of time. The University's intent is that fee rate increases will be kept to a minimum and that indexation rates will remain stable wherever possible. Since 2007 the indexation rate has remained at or less than 4%.

Why study the Master of Health Economics?
This program provides graduate training in all aspects of health economics, meeting the clear need for comprehensive programs in Australia and internationally. A joint initiative of UQ's School of Economics and School of Population Health, this program is designed for people intending to work in the health sector. This program is accessible to those with undergraduate qualifications in economics or other disciplines. Clearly defined academic streams ensure all students have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this program, regardless of academic backgrounds. The program offers students the opportunity to develop strong analytical skills and is a qualification which may further career opportunities in national and international health agencies.
This highly specialised program provides critical insight into the complex economic issues in health sector administration, and the economic impacts of decisions. Students may take courses in analytical techniques, including advanced applied econometrics, public economics, pharmacoeconomics, health finance, epidemiology, business and economic decision techniques, burden of disease analysis, mortality analysis and health and economic development.
What you can study
Students in the Advanced program are currently required to demonstrate their understanding and skills through research consisting of an economic project and thesis.

What you can do with a Master of Health Economics
Careers
Graduates can expect to find employment as health economics managers in pharmaceutical companies, health departments, private health facilities or government and development agencies.
Professional memberships
Graduates may be eligible for membership with the following professional bodies:

While this degree may be accredited by an official industry accreditation body in Australia, completion of the degree may not result in graduates receiving automatic accreditation. Please contact the relevant registration body for details of any conditions for accreditation.

To complete the Master of Health Economics
To complete the Master of Health Economics, a student must complete a requisite number of courses chosen from the course list and according to the Rules for the program.
