Why study the Doctor of Biotechnology?
The Doctor of Biotechnology program is designed to train scientists in the application of principles of management, to develop an understanding of management issues for research enterprises and technology ventures and the integration of specialist training in the area of biotechnology and research. Students in the doctorate will undertake courses at an advanced level in areas such as regulatory and legal issues, innovation, and biotechnology venture management. In addition, a large self-directed study component and a thesis component is included to explore and develop academic areas of interest.

What you can do with a Doctor of Biotechnology
Careers
Positions in a management role in biotechnology companies and in government institutions.
While this degree may be accredited by an official industry accreditation body in Australia, completion of the degree may not result in graduates receiving automatic accreditation. Please contact the relevant registration body for details of any conditions for accreditation.

To complete the Doctor of Biotechnology
To complete the Doctor of Biotechnology, a student must complete a requisite number of courses chosen from the course list and according to the Rules for the program.
Students should be aware of the University of Queensland rules, particularly the General Award Rules, which govern the conduct of UQ programs. Students will find a link to the General Award Rules, and other University rules, on the University Rules page.
A student is required to obtain #48 from the DBiotech List comprising:
- #16 from Part A;
- #16 from Part B; and
- #16 from Part C.
