International students, studying on a student visa, may not undertake the program on campus at UQ on a full time basis; they may only study from their home countries and will not be eligible for an Australian student visa.

Indicative annual fee: AUD$ 25250

Indicative annual fees are calculated on the basis of two full-time semesters only. Actual annual fees may vary in accordance with your choices of majors and electives and whether you study in Summer Semester. Tuition fees are indexed each year. The indexation rate is fixed 18 months in advance of a particular academic year thereby allowing you to plan your finances ahead of time. The University's intent is that fee rate increases will be kept to a minimum and that indexation rates will remain stable wherever possible. Since 2007 the indexation rate has remained at or less than 4%.

Why study the Graduate Diploma in e-Healthcare?

The use of information and communication technologies is becoming increasingly common in all health professions. Healthcare professionals are becoming aware that an understanding of information systems & their applications is essential in their professional life. The program is designed to provide knowledge and hands-on skills in e-healthcare and is suitable for both the health professionals wishing to enhance their understanding of and ability to work effectively with information and communication technologies, and for graduates who wish to pursue careers in the healthcare field. The programs explore the influence of technology in healthcare practice, advantages and potential challenges posed by the changes in healthcare delivery, clinical practice, education, administration and research. Graduates are able to critically evaluate developments in e-healthcare: analyse their effectiveness and possible trends for the future.

The Centre for Online Health is a leading research institution with experience in telepaediatrics, teledermatology, telehomecare, home palliative care and teleneurology. The web-based flexible learning program is designed to allow a wide audience, particularly busy healthcare professionals, to upgrade their knowledge and skills in e-healthcare.

What you can study

Studies include a compulsory 5-day practical component in the Centre for Online Health in Brisbane where students will have an opportunity familiarise themselves with the types of technology and equipment used in healthcare delivery and interact with experts engaged in research in the field. The program will expose students to theories and research in e-health and encourage them to identify and develop methodologies in e-healthcare research.

What you can do with a Graduate Diploma in e-Healthcare

Careers

Graduates should be able to use sophisticated information technology & information management techniques to improve quality of health care. Employment opportunities in exist in private health care organisations, hospitals, clinics, managed care organisations, state & federal government departments in the management, coordination & delivery of e-Health services. Positions include: telehealth coordinator, systems & infrastructure manager (telehealth), manager, statewide telehealth services.

While this degree may be accredited by an official industry accreditation body in Australia, completion of the degree may not result in graduates receiving automatic accreditation. Please contact the relevant registration body for details of any conditions for accreditation.

To complete the Graduate Diploma in e-Healthcare, a student must complete a requisite number of courses chosen from the course list and according to the Rules for the program.
