Indicative annual fees are calculated on the basis of two full-time semesters only. Actual annual fees may vary in accordance with your choices of majors and electives and whether you study in Summer Semester. Tuition fees are indexed each year. The indexation rate is fixed 18 months in advance of a particular academic year thereby allowing you to plan your finances ahead of time. The University's intent is that fee rate increases will be kept to a minimum and that indexation rates will remain stable wherever possible. Since 2007 the indexation rate has remained at or less than 4%.

Why study the Master of Applied Law?
The Graduate Certificate in Applied Law (GCAppLaw), Graduate Diploma in Applied Law (GDipAppLaw) and Master of Applied Law (MAppLaw) programs are designed for non-law graduates who would find some legal background useful in their current careers. The GDipAppLaw and MAppLaw programs offer a general introduction to basic legal concepts and then enable students to undertake elective courses of special relevance to their professions or occupations. The GCAppLaw offers a general introduction to basic legal concepts and additionally allows students to choose two elective courses within areas of interest from postgraduate law courses.

What you can do with a Master of Applied Law
Careers
The Applied Law programs are designed to provide graduates with legal knowledge relevant to their current careers/professions. The programs are not designed to facilitate career changes and do not lead to membership of any professional bodies.
While this degree may be accredited by an official industry accreditation body in Australia, completion of the degree may not result in graduates receiving automatic accreditation. Please contact the relevant registration body for details of any conditions for accreditation.

To complete the Master of Applied Law, a student must complete a requisite number of courses chosen from the course list and according to the Rules for the program.
Students should be aware of the University of Queensland rules, particularly the General Award Rules, which govern the conduct of UQ programs. Students will find a link to the General Award Rules, and other University rules, on the University Rules page.
A student is required to obtain #24 from the MAppLaw List comprising -
- #6 from Group 1; and
- #18 from Groups 2, 4 or 5
