Why study Community Development?
Community development is a dynamic and growing field of social work practice. This practice field is used within all levels of government and across many departments (health, communities, ageing, housing, disabilities, multicultural, indigenous). Community development also plays a vital role in not-for-profit, volunteer and even in for-profit social service organizations. Other areas include community banking and urban development. This specialisation and graduate certificate equips students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to practice community development or to integrate it into their social work roles. The specialisation provides a suite of courses that integrates theory and practice in local and international settings and focuses on personal and social change.
