Master of Physiotherapy
Ali Alshami is a PhD student in UQ’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, and is President of the UQ Saudi Students Club.
“Before I studied my master of physiotherapy, I applied to several universities in Australia and North America. I got offers from three universities including UQ. I preferred the UQ program because it was the best in terms of clinical experience and practical skills," he said.
"I liked UQ and life in Brisbane so much, I decided to complete my PhD at UQ too. UQ has been ranked as one of the best universities in Australia and the world. It is also in the top band of a list of Australian universities recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education in Saudi.
"For me, the study experience and life here in UQ and Brisbane has been unforgettable. I have broadened my knowledge of advanced physiotherapy practice and research and feel I am confident in my field.
"I have had a great opportunity to meet friendly people from diverse backgrounds who study and work at UQ.
'My future plans include working as a lecturer in Saudi Arabia, and practising physiotherapy part-time while researching and improving my knowledge of the field.”
