Jennifer Schoonmaker – USA

Jennifer Schoonmaker

“I chose to study in Australia because I was incredibly interested to experience a few months in a country that is different in many ways from the USA. I also wanted to study Biology in an area where I knew I could get lots of hands-on and interesting field experience. The best thing about UQ is that it is a large university with many people to meet, activities to participate in, and classes to choose from. UQ also has a great location in Australia by being minutes from one of the most interesting and colourful cities, Brisbane.”

“There are practical, hands-on experience in my program such as field trips and field research. All of this hands-on learning greatly enhances everything that is learned in the classroom by seeing the information first-hand and being able to apply it more readily in the future. I believe that by studying in Australia I will be more appealing to schools because of my extra experiences and depth.”

“Socially, I have been involved in dance at UQ, and I have made many friends with roommates, classmates, and the people that I dance with. I spend a lot of time with all of the friends I have made relaxing, studying, or exploring the area together. The best thing about Australia life is that the weather here in Brisbane is unbeatable! In addition, it is wonderful to be so close to UQ, Brisbane, and the beach.”
