Course description

Quota of 75 students. Enrolment will close once quota is reached. This course conveys fundamental principles of human factors psychology, which is the science and practice of understanding the fit between people and the systems they work with. Course is constructed around site visits to two kinds of safety-critical workplaces: in 2013 we anticipate they will be transportation or other control centres (e.g., roadway control rooms) and healthcare (critical care or patient safety environments). We study challenges of human-system fit in such workplaces from the perceptual, cognitive, social, and organisational points of view.
