Course description

This course provides an introductory study of Australian federal government focusing on key political institutions such as parliament, cabinet, federalism, the constitution, High Court, pressure groups, parties, and the public service. POLS1101 explains how the Australian political system works, highlighting both the formal structures and informal practices characteristic of Australian politics. POLS1101 develops the research, writing and analytical skills required for further study in political science and related courses.
