Course description

A general introduction to the major concepts of, and progress in astrophysics for the interested numerate student. The course emphasises classical observations of the solar system, stars & galaxies, and the cosmos at large. It also includes discussion of broader questions concerning our place in the Universe. Topics covered include: the night sky, origin and evolution of the solar system, properties of stars & galaxies, and recent progress in cosmology.
