Course description

The Environmental Management Honours Thesis is designed to provide students with an opportunity to undertake research in a field of interest in Environmental Management and to develop a demonstrable degree of expertise in that field. Students are provided an opportunity to demonstrate high level professional skills in thesis presentation, analysis of data and academic aptitude. ENVM4501 is a 10 unit, two-semester long course (Semester 1 and 2) that involves students selecting a very specific topic within the realms of Environmental Management and investigating the selected topic in detail. The key output will be a thesis (dissertation), which will make a contribution to research in the area of Environmental Management. Students must enrol in GEOS6001 in the first semester of their thesis. Unless otherwise agreed with your academic advisor, students will be required to collect original data for their topic and analyse, synthesis and report on this in their thesis and undertake systematic analytical research into a defined specific topic. Students are required to identify a suitable academic supervisor for their proposed topic and consult on the final framework and specific methodology. The role of the supervisor is to provide academic guidance and advice to assist students towards the successful completion of their thesis. Students commencing in Semester 1 enrol in ENVM4501 for Semester 1 & Semester 2. Students commencing in Semester 2 enrol in ENVM4502 for Semester 2 & the following Semester 1.
