Course description

This course will not be offered in 2016 summer semester. Please contact the School about 2017 summer semester course offering.

ENVM3400 provides an international study experience in the Asia Pacific region, and focuses on issues in Geography, Planning and Environmental Management. Its purpose is to: expose students to differing landscapes, environments, cultures, histories, ways of life, political and urban systems and settings, and management and planning systems; form a basis for reflecting on and rethinking students' understanding of their own social, cultural, environmental and political settings; and their discipline and/or profession- how it relates to the world, how and why it works as it does, its strengths and weaknesses, how it is practiced in different physical and socio-cultural settings, what the constraints are in different socio-cultural settings, and where it is headed. This purpose will play out differently for each student depending on the student's program of study, interests and aspirations. The course consists of pre-field trip lectures at the St Lucia campus and a field trip to the Asia Pacific region (2 weeks). For further information, and to express your interest in applying for this course, please see http://www.gpem.uq.edu.au/field-trips. Additional fees payable. In the event that students complete the fieldwork and then subsequently withdraw from this course without financial liability, the School reserves the right to charge full cost recovery for this fieldtrip.
